Top Smashed Avo

Smashed avocado has taken over cafes everywhere and if you’re yet to jump on the bandwagon, we’d advise you give it a go ASAP. Avocado is full of good fats that keep you full and by gosh, it’s just DELICIOUS (we love a good avo).

Here’s our selection of venues that put their own spin on the humble Smashed Avocado and keep the dish interesting, flavorsome and one you’re happy to come back for time and time again.

Square & Compass

Avocado, goats curd, tomato salad, raw beetroot relish, kale chips, seeds, toast

Square & Compass is simplicity in a venue meeting healthy delicious food items and this is the dish we rely on everytime. It’s got everything you want on a plate and then some. The creaminess from the avo and goats curd, the citrus and earth from the tomato and beetroot to the crunch from the kale chips, seeds and toast. Winner winner EVERY TIME!

Tall Timber

Smashed avocdao, goats cheese w/ beetroot hummus

This dish has so many positives going for it that we need to share. First off it looks gorgeous when it’s plated, secondly the incredible flavors that it provides  (seriously, YUM) and thirdly, it leaves you full but not overfull. The beetroot hummus assists by giving a subtle; earthy kick to the avocado and the goats’ cheese gives the creamy hit that always brings a smile to your dial (ours anyway). This combination is divine!

Liar Liar

Smashed avocado w/ fetta, maple glazed bacon, poached eggs w/ dukkah on sourdough

Yep, you read that right. Maple glazed bacon is a thing (shout out to the Canadians who have always known about this combination) and if you haven’t tried it this is the dish for you. Can we also just mention that we LOVE the name of this venue? The smashed avo/feta combination is creamy goodness and the bacon gives a great contrast in texture and taste. The addition of poached eggs is always an amazing choice and this dukkah is incredible.

Denis The Menace

Smashed avocado w/ heirloom tomatoes, marinated feta, breakfast radishes, fresh mint & basil – Add- Pancetta

Another winning café name and this dish kicks all the right goals. The avocado is gorgeously creamy and the marinated feta, OH EM GEE IT’S SO GOOD. The breakfast radishes provide a crunch and when you add pancetta (as we’ve suggested) you are literally going to be leveling up in the breakfast stakes #bossstyles. Trust us on this one.

Avocado and pumpkin seed hummus on toast, coddled eggs, native bush tomato dust

Serious taste sensations going out to the ‘Native Bush Tomato Dust’ on this dish, we dig it in a big way. Also, for those who don’t understand what a ‘coddled egg’ is, it basically means eggs that are lightly cooked. So think of poached eggs but a bit less cooked than that. Make sense? Either way this is a dish that you need to get amongst because you’re gonna LOVE IT.
