Here are 5 of the most popular MBD picks in Melbourne.
Pumpkin Bruschetta w/ Feta, Hummus, Pinenuts and Pepita Dukkah & Poached Eggs
One of our favourite breakfast places in Melbourne, Tall Timber always has our back (and stomachs) with delicious food and on-point coffee. Whilst we confess to being a little obsessed this dish, we know after you try it you will be too. A little (and important) tip for those who haven’t been here yet, get in early to snatch up a table otherwise you may end up joining an (at times long) queue of patrons. Enjoy!
Address: 60 Commercial Rd, Prahran
Ben & Breakfast Salad – Kale, quinoa, Meredith goats feta, mint, chilli, broccoli, avo mixed organic nuts + poached eggs
This café has to be one of the most underrated hot spots in the Melbourne suburbs, Armadale to be exact. Whilst not boasting a high tech website (currently) like most competitors in the neighborhood, their menu, coffee and service will certainly make you want to be a regular. We can’t go past their Ben & Breakfast Salad (description above) that features all the right tastes and ticks all the boxes. It’s creamy, crunchy and downright amazing. Make sure you add this onto your to do list, you will not regret it!
Address: 24 Beatty Ave, Armadale
Avocado, goats curd, tomato salad, raw beetroot relish, kale chips, seeds, toast
Square & Compass is simplicity in a venue. It brings together healthy delicious food items and this is a dish we rely on every time. It’s got everything you want on a plate and then some. The creaminess from the avo and goats curd, the citrus and earth from the tomato and beetroot and the crunch from the kale chips, seeds and toast. Winner winner EVERY TIME!
Address: 222 Clarendon St, East Melbourne
Breakfast Salad – Falafel, sauteed greens, cashew butter, beetroot & pickled carrots (ADD poached eggs & avocado)
Fun fact? Lucky Lockett serve breakfast till 2:30pm so this means you can rock up late and still get hit with the tastiness. We’re forever ordering the Breakfast Salad here because it’s so GOOD and let’s be honest, we really can’t go past an amazing breakfast salad when there is options to add things (woohoo!). We recommend definitely adding poached eggs and avocado.
Address: 140 Barkly St, Brunswick
Blueberry & ricotta hotcake with berries organic maple seeds & double cream
Key piece of advice for those who haven’t been to Top Paddock yet, GET THERE EARLY. This place has queues for days otherwise (not even kidding). And when the food is this good you’ll want to get amongst it ASAP. These hotcakes not only look like heaven on a plate but are divine to eat. (I mean who can say no to double cream?) They’re also probably one of the TOP Instagrammed (it’s now a word) food items in Melbourne! #foodporn
