For The Men

February 20, 2016
Tall Timber

We get it, the blokes are renowned for wanting a bit more meat (read: a LOT) on their plate and that’s cool, sometimes we like a big breakfast too (don’t judge). It’s for this reason we rounded up our best guy pals and ventured out to find these options and we think these are (some of) the top food picks for the dudes.

Tall Timber

Slow Cooked Pulled Pork Benedict, poached eggs, apple cider hollondaise and apple salad

Aren’t we all just lovers of pulled pork? It is literally one of the best things in town and this whole dish screams EAT ME NOW! The apple cider hollandaise (which is just GENIUS) to the apple salad (which provides the perfect crunch texture for the dish) really stand out here. Word to the wise, if you have this dish do NOT offer a taste to anyone else. It will induce severe food envy. Don’t say we didn’t’ warn you!

Naughty Boy

Breakfast Roll. Noisette brioche, double smoked bacon, fried egg, grilled haloumi, green tomato relish

Double smoked anything should just be mandatory when it comes to bacon, ham and other meaty treats. This breakfast roll is off the charts and we speak from experience (what? We’ve only had it about 7 times… don’t judge). The grilled haloumi is perfectly salty whilst the green tomato relish provides the sweet (yet savory) citrus hit and who can go past a brioche roll? So good!

Steak & Eggs  – Scotch minute steak w/ potato rosti, asparagus, poached eggs & sauce gribiche

Don’t be fooled with the simple ‘Steak & Eggs’ reference, because this plate is SO much more than that. First off it’s SCOTCH minute steak, so you know it’s gonna be good and the rosti, well it’s OFF THE CHAINS. You’ll be slamming this into your gob so fast you won’t have time to talk and we wouldn’t blame you, it’s important to get your priorities in order when you’re eating breakfast and they are as follows: EAT ALL THE FOOD

Porky Beans –  House made beans w smoked bacon, pork belly, black pudding & fried eggs w toast

Haven’t tried black pudding yet or don’t you know what it is? For those NOT in the know, black pudding is literally a black sausage that contains pork, dried pig’s blood, and suet (and for those playing at home ‘suet’ is actually just fat). Okay, now that we’ve established that we’re getting straight to the point because this dish is a winner. The house beans (which can do no wrong because #smokedmeat) compliment the black pudding and the egg is the perfect addition. Smash it up!

Ascot Food Store

Duck egg, toasted brioche, shitake mushrooms, parsley butter & shaved percorino

This plate comes together so well with each element providing a great compliment to the other. As a side note can we please take a moment to talk about how good this meal looks plated? Seriously!  Once the dish hits your table you’ll be amazed. The brioche is the perfect compliment to an egg that is just ready to ooze all over the plate (for dippage) whilst the sharp and full flavor of a salty pecorino adds JUST the right touch to the dish. Winner winner, duck egg…breakfast!
