146 Athol St, Moonee Ponds
What was once a cute corner store milk bar in the heart of Moonee Ponds has been transformed into an incredible modern café with a menu that will blow you away – the name you ask??? Darling St Espresso.
The café features warm exposed brick, natural timbers and large windows that line the café giving it an easy-going feeling where you could “hang” all day.
Head chef and owner Robin Neaves felt something was missing in the area and chose to open his eighth venue in the hospitality industry (you know you are in for an experience when you have an expert like Robin being the wheels!).
The menu has been created using all local produce and made in house with in season produce to make sure you get the best in every dish.
The menu takes a twist on modern Australian with influences from other cooking styles such as Japanese and Italian – just to name a few.
When you think Robin has enough on his plate he even caters to the local school in the area (I wish I was a kid growing up knowing Robin is making my canteen lunch!).
When you read the menu you’ll want to order everything! Such as their weekly hot chocolate special!
The dishes you must try are the ‘Mushrooms’ sage roasted, truffled cauliflower puree poached eggs, kale dust, polenta popcorn and parmesan floss… or for the sweet tooth you can’t go past the ‘Doughnut Waffle’ cinnamon doughnut waffle ,raspberry jam, whipped matcha cream cheese, warm chocolate and maple meringue.
If you’re feeling extra hungry try the popular ‘Srircha Fried Chicken Burger’ brioche bun, Sriracha fried chicken, apple, fennel and cucumber slaw panko crumbed mac n cheese croquette!
Darling Street Espresso is the perfect place for mums and bubs with easy all day park. Bring your furry friends to Darling Street Espresso and take advantage of the large heated court yard!
When you leave, you will be planning your next visit back! Enjoy!
