If You Haven’t Already…

April 21, 2016

You may be seeing all over social media pretty soon (if not already). This is a list of cafes that are just starting up, so why not pay them a visit and see what the hype is? Round up your pals and pay them a group visit!

SOS

Owned by the champions of Heal Thy Self (based in Yarraville), SOS is a newby to the hood of South Yarra. They’re featuring foods that focus on mind/soul and making you (and your body) feel good! Gluten free? They’ve got it. Dairy free? GOT IT! This place has it all and their super smoothies, let’s just say you won’t want them to end. Fun fact? They also make their own almond milk!

Address: 5/177 Toorak Rd, South Yarra

Schmucks Bagel

These kids are the new ‘schmucks’ on the block (see what we did there?). Tucked comfortably within the busy Melbourne CBD, this is not your average bagel joint. With the hospitality pro’s behind catering group Tommy Collins and (sold establishments) Hawk & Hunter, The Little Ox and Little Collins, Schmucks is going to make an impression. If you’re venturing here for breakfast and are an aussie through and through, we recommend the Vegemite bagel (because #straya). It’s bloody bonza!

Address: The William, Guests Lane, Rear of 199 Williams Street, Melbourne

Trei

Situated in the outer suburbs of Glen Waverly, we love the new flavor/vibe and taste sentation that Trei is bringing to the table. Focusing on some seriously flavorsome healthy, clean-eating food options (including GF and paleo bread). We recommend the superfood bowl or if you’re feeling like some treat day love, get one of their smoothies (TO.DIE.FOR). The venue pops with gorgeous colour and has a relaxed, laid back vibe. Seriously though, get a smoothie!

Address: 232 Blackburn Rd, Glen Waverley

Darling Cafe

The faces behind Dundas & Faussett (Albert Park) are responsible for this ‘darling’ cafe (see what we did there?). Focusing on an Asian inspired (lunch) menu, Darling Cafe is a new addition to the foodie haven of South Yarra. Opened from 7am till 4pm, there’s something on offer for every single taste preference. The interior is GORGEOUS and the food is plated to perfection, we recommend the Acai Bowl. Not only is it visually stunning (INSTAGRAM PEOPLE!), it’s filling and SO good for you. Enjoy!

Address: 2 Darling St, South Yarra

Uncle & Jak

Crisp walls, inviting furniture, welcoming staff and incredible food make this place one you’ll return to again and again. The food focus here is breakfast but don’t worry if you’re a lunch person because they’ve got some tasty options to satisfy your hunger. We can’t get enough of their Sweetcorn and Zucchini Fritters with avocado, pickled chilli, parsley and frisee salad served with tomato relish. Have it with eggs; THE BEST. You’ll also love the Green Feast – two free range eggs on sourdough with wilted spinach, mushrooms, roast tomato, polenta and parmesan hash and avocado. If you’re hanging for lunch, don’t bypass the Uncle’s Pork Burger, a 12 hour roasted pulled pork on organic brioche bun with slaw of watercress, apple, toasted walnuts, parmesan and sweet apple cider vinaigrette. Salivating yet? GET AMONGST IT!

Address: 30 Johnston St, Fitzroy
